Lazy Brooke

Well, I forgot to write last week, but at least I remembered that I was going to write every week.
Week 24, holy cow. I'm almost to my 3rd trimester already, I can't believe it. I think things are starting to heat up, in pregnancy terms anyway. :D Baby has just gone through his first growth spurt I think, I swear my tummy just grew 4inches just this week. What I think are baby movements have gotten a little stronger, Jay actually felt him for the first time on Monday. I think he has a pattern too. I never feel him in the morning, but late afternoons seem to be his active times, just after dinner and I have a full belly!
All this growing seems to have it's negative effects, on me anyway. HEARTBURN!!!! Worst thing ever.... blah. In the past all it has taken to get rid of it was a glass of milk, which I hate. But these past two weeks, when the heartburn kicks in, not even 3 glasses of milk helps (in fact it just makes me need to pee in the middle of the night.) So, I broke down and have been taking Tums, but ONLY if I can't handle the heartburn anymore. I've heard mixed reviews on tums during pregnancy, but my medicine sheet my doctor gave me said most antacids EXCEPT peptol bismol are fine. Plus Heidi says she's had them through all 3 of her pregnancies, and her boys are fine.
Another problem? Sleeping....every hour or so I have to flip over, I think baby settles and it makes it uncomfortable. And I'm not supposed to sleep on my  back, but that's usually how I fund myself in the morning, sigh, I'm trying though. I've given Jay's strict orders to turn me over if he sees me on my back. And he's been a good Nazi about it. I also have been getting some pretty bad headaches, but the doc says that's normal.
Speaking of the doctor. I had a prenatal appointment last Friday, doc says baby is doin well and I'm growing like I should! YAY!
So what have I been doing with all of my free-time?! Well, you HAVE to see my baby's room! It's mostly been a gram project, since I've been in school. But since I've been off I've started helping. It's SOOOOO cute, mostly done now! LION KING! Best baby theme ever!

I've also been trying to clean and make sure everything I need to get done for my teaching classes next semester gets done. But that's not nearly as fun, so it doesn't happen much. I also get pretty tired pretty quickly. But, once again, I'm trying.
Mother's Day was fun. Brandy wasn't there, she's in Boston (Hope she's having fun!)But Carrie and Jayde were there. That was pretty awesome! I hope mom had a happy mother's day..... I wish Dad would come to the party. Stupid Steven and Jason didn't either. Silly siblings.
Well, that's all I can think of right now! I'll try to remember to write next week!!!!
Qoute: "Perhaps it was the eyes of the wolf, measured, calm, knowing.
Perhaps it was the intense sense of family.
After all, wolves mate for life, are
loyal partners, create hunting communities
and demonstrate affectionate patience in pup rearing.
Perhaps it was the rigid hierarchy of the packs.
Each wolf had a place in the whole and yet retained his individual personality.
Perhaps it was their great, romping, ridiculous sense of fun.
Perhaps it was some celestial link with the winter night skies
that prompted the wolf to lay his song on the icy air.
For the native people who lived with the wolves,
and the wolves once ranged from the Arctic to the sub-tropics,
there was much to learn from them.
Is it any wonder that the myths of many tribes characterize the wolves
not as killers but as teachers?"

According to this book I'm reading that's about natural pregnancy stuff, here are some suggestions for helping heartburn:
1. Avoid oily, heavy, rich, and spicy foods.
2. Eat small, frequent snacks rather than large meals.
3. Have supper at least 2 hours before you go to bed.
4. Eat yogurt when you get heartburn.
5. Eat slowly.
6. Some women find that drinking liquids with their meals aggravates them; for others, a glass of water during the meal or a cup of grapefruit juice just before the meal helps. Try both ways and see if it helps.
7. Eat a small handful of raw almonds or cashews as a snack or after a meal. Chew them slowly.
8. Eat a baked potato.

Hope that helps! The book is called The Natural Pregnancy Book if you're interested.
